Philadelphia harmony group Market East are back with the intoxicating new single “Roses.” After a ten year hiatus following the release of their critically acclaimed 7” Orange & Me / Our Love Will Always Win, the group returns with its most soulful and poignant offering to date. Today you can listen to it wherever you stream music.
Recorded to tape in Philly at Eraserhood Sound Studios, “Roses” is undoubtedly the funkiest and most powerful Market East has ever sounded. Vocalist Kurt Cain and bassist/guitarist/keys player Vincent John trade lead vocals in the verses, while drummer Maxwell Perla joins in for the group’s trademark celestial three part harmonies on the choruses. The lyrics paint a nostalgic portrait that evokes the feeling of looking back on the “golden years” of one’s life, while wondering if the future holds the same warm emotions. Keen-eared listeners will even catch a subtle shout out to Simon & Garfunkel, who are a major source of spiritual inspiration for the group.
“Roses” was produced by Market East and Eraserhood Sound, and is just the beginning of the group’s comeback - stay tuned for more music and a major announcement coming soon.
